Richmond, NY Eyelid Surgery

Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is a surgical procedure for correcting defects, deformities and disfigurations of the eyelids as well as aesthetically modifying the eye region of the face. Surgery can be performed on either the upper and lower eyelid, or both. Whether you want to improve your appearance or are experiencing functional problems with your eyelids, eyelid surgery can rejuvenate the area surrounding your eyes.

After receiving either intravenous sedation or general anesthesia, Dr. Blaine will make an incision. If your problem area is your upper eyelid then the incision will be made within the natural crease of your eyelid to prevent noticeable scarring. If you are undergoing lower lid surgery, then the incision will either be made below the lower lash line, or inside of your lower eyelid. The Transconjunctival incisions, those done inside your lower lid, do not require the removal of any skin.

Brow lifts are performed with either endoscopic or coronal incisions. Dr. Blaine may choose to use an endoscope (a thin tube with a camera on the end) and special instruments place through small incisions made within the hairline. This process allows the tissue and muscle beneath the skin to be adjusted, correcting the source of visible creases and furrows in the forehead.

The coronal incision option is done through an incision from the ear across the top of the head, within the hair-bearing skin. The forehead skin is then lifted and any muscle adjustment can be made under direct visualization. The resulting scar from a coronal brow list is well concealed within the hair.
