Cellulite is a cosmetic condition that affects almost 90 percent of women at some stage of their life. Cellulite is characterized by a dimpled, lumpy, or irregular appearance of the skin, and is caused by shortening and/or shrinking of the connective tissue fibers commonly seen in the thighs and buttocks. While cellulite tends to be more common in women than in men, men can also acquire cellulite throughout their lifetime. It is believed that cellulite is more commonly found in women due to the differences in the way that muscle, connective tissue, and adipose (fat) cells are distributed throughout the body. Factors such as genetics, age, and lifestyle are also known to play a role in its development. Those unhappy with the appearance of cellulite are invited to take advantage of Cellfina: The only FDA-cleared minimally-invasive procedure designed to get rid of cellulite by addressing its structural cause. A one-time body contouring treatment, requiring only local anesthesia, Cellfina can afford you achievable, long lasting results.
How Cellfina Works
The structural cause of cellulite comes from the connective tissue bands that occur throughout the fat in both the thigh and buttock regions of the body. These bands shorten and contract the skin, resulting in the dimpled, lumpy, and puckered appearance. Once Cellfina is performed and these bands are released, the skin returns back to its smooth state.
At the time of treatment, Dr. Blaine will mark all the cellulite dimples that can be effectively treated in the patient’s area(s) of concern. Once the patient is appropriately marked, the Cellfina treatment begins with the administration of a local anesthetic at each previously marked cellulite band site. Following the local anesthetic, a highly specialized device targets the structural cause of Cellulite with a very fine needle-like instrument to break apart or cut the band of fibrous connective tissue that is causing the dimpled appearance.
